I'm currently at Bunbury Music Festival in Cincinnati OH and I've worn my Chucks all weekend. My feet are killing me. I also wore my Chucks for Lollapalooza 2011 and was in pain after that. I need new festival shoes ASAP because I want to be comfy at Firefly, Lolla 2012 and Voodoo 2012. I've heard Sanuks are the way to go but I would like other opinions too. Aaaaaand go!!

I heard sanuks are good too.
I have a set pair of festival shoes. They are old and beat up but they get the job done. I would never wear chucks to a festival since they aren't really comfortable to begin with. I wouldn't get anything too expensive in case it becomes a muddy mess

If you can get over how ugly they are, I've heard crocs work really well. Comfy, breathes well, and dries quickly if they get wet...

For my last few festivals I have gone with Toms and have not yet looked back. They are super comfortable, dry easily, are stylish, provide a little bit of protection, are light-weight... the cons are that they're a little expensive (~$45) and, depending on how much you wear them/what you do, they can get worn out easily. (My first pair lasted about 4 months of constant use and were finished by Bonnaroo. I have two more pairs now and they've lasted 9 and 7 months respectively.)

I say let style go right out the damn window. Even just a half decent pair of light hikers/trail shoes will work great. If you're trudging from one stage to the other all day and all over the camping area, you're going to want support. Wear some moisture wicking socks with them and you're all set.

I own like 5 pairs of Toms and plan on bringing my most comfy pair as a back up, depending on what my main shoe will be. My only issue with Chucks is my pinky toes and I don't really have time to get those removed before Friday. My feet must swell after so much walking because they are so comfy when I just wear them out for a night or to work.

I totally agree with mg! If your feet are in pain/uncomfortable, your day will SUCK... Go with function over fashion. I wore a pair of Saucony Jazz sneakers for Bonnaroo last year and tucked a pair of Havanas flip flops in my Camelbak pack (for a sneaker breather lol). Good socks will make a big difference!

I would love to go shoeless but I know some jackass is going to break a bottle and I'll be the guy to step in it

The thing to remember about footwear at something like this is not how comfortable you THINK you are during the day, but how you'll feel later that night. I made bad shoe choices at events years ago and could barely walk the next day. Don't ruin your weekend.
