Its quiet around here, but that doesn't mean we're not jazzed for firefly. Just wondering what the thoughts are about possible overlap near the top of the lineup with Bonnaroo. Our crew was planning to do both, but being a week apart and geographically close together, we have concerns. Particularly the top of the firefly lineup matching up with the near top of the bonnaroo lineup. thoughts?

I think Bonnaroo will have the bigger headliners. Fleetwood Mac have already been rumored to play. Last year they only shared 5 or 6 bands and none of them were headliner status.
Firefly will have solid headliners but will have better second and third tier bands. Muse has been ruled out for both festivals. They are playing a bunch of shows in Europe next summer but they could swing by Bonnaroo for a 1 off US show.
Which festival are you closer to?

We are in philly, so firefly is closer, but we're definitely doing both. I'd be ok with the Mac at 'roo, but we also just bought tickets to their april show. I'm not worried about bonnaroo's lineup at all, there's always something excellent going on. We had a blast at firefly and a lot more of our friends are willing and able to make it. Def think they had a very strong undercard and we were drawn partly by how little overlap there was with acts we had already seen this year. Not sure that'll still be the case, but we'll be there anyhow.
I"m not a Muse guy, so while i'm sure i'd enjoy the show, i'm not heartbroken

When Bonnaroo signs bands they usually have a lot of clauses in the main headliners contracts. Since Firefly is so close they might not be able to share headliners. I don't think they will share many bands this year being only a week apart and many people (like you) going to both.
I guess we just have to wait until the lineup is announced in February

They aren't that close. The radius clause shouldn't make a difference because it's ~800 miles between the two cities.
