After going to bigger festivals for years the most common thing I've seen people forget it shade. You'll probably spend most of your mornings around your campsite and shade is the most important thing. Especially around the Firefly campsites, there aren't many trees in the area.
Are there any cheap solid canopys that others would recommend?

I know all too well, how important this is. Making time to stay in the shade will increase your stamina for the weekend. I just picked up a really nice 10x10 canopy from Dick's sporting goods for $99.00
Keep in mind though, if you go there they have two available. One is domed and offers 100 sqare ft of shade. The other is not domed and offers only 64 sq ft of shade. It's an extr 20 bucks or so for the dome, but well worth it. Plus, being 10x10, it should be the right size for our campsites.

I purchased a Coleman 10x10 Instant Screenhouse (with mesh doors) for our campsite at WalMart for $99. Depending on the direction of the wind, the marsh flies could get real ugly. I don't want to be eaten alive

The shade you bring really needs to go over your tent and you also have to bring a tarp/sheet, or something to hang from the east side of your shade cover. The shade overhead does nothing when that sun breaks over the eastern horizon EARLY in the morning and that is when you want your sleep the most!!!
